Hi to everyone!
I am Simon Zimmermann from Basel (Switzerland). After my apprenticeship as a precision-optician I studied medical technologies and therapeutic technologies. Therefore, I also have a strong relation to the technical side of photography, beside the artistic aspects. During my apprenticeship I was introduced into the field of optics and photography and subsequently I developed a great fascination for the topic. I started in 2007 with a Sony Alpha 300. Soon, I realized that I want more, which is why I sold the whole camera set in 2010 and bought a Nikon D90. I continuously expanded my equipment by a 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 allround-glass, a 70-210mm f/4 tele, a 40mm f/2.8 macro lens, 50mm f/1.8 prime lens and polarizing filters as well as other bits and pieces. The next step was the change to a full-frame system in terms of a Nikon D750. My favorite glasses regarding my actual equipment are the 50 mm 1.8 as "walk around" lens, 105 mm macro, for macro photography as well as portrait photography and the 16-35 for landscape photographies.
For getting familiar in the field of photography, I read a few books. In the very beginning the additional camera handbook - the Nikon D90 (Heike Jasper, 2009) covered a lot of interesting information regarding technical details, application samples as well as approaches in image processing . subsequently, I read the book "Digitale Fotografie" (Scott Kelby, 2007), which in my point of view is a very helpful guide throughout a wide range of photographic topics. These books combined with a lot of practice and enthusiasm are the basis of my skills.
